[EC] Monitoring and Control
graphic

Notes:
The 'monitoring' part of this concerns the supervising of activities in progress to ensure they are on course and on-schedule in meeting the objectives and performance targets.
The 'control' part of this involves the management function of achieving defined goals within an established timetable.
For effective control there needs to be three things in place (1) setting standards, (2) measuring actual performance, (3) taking corrective action.
A control process might be something like: (a) compare actual performance with planned performance, (b) measure the difference, (c) identify causes for the difference, (d) take action to correct shortfalls or enhance excesses.
